Luis Roldán

The book examines the outstanding characteristics of the artistic production of artist Lucy Tejada Saenz (b. Colombia 1920) during the 1950's. These texts written for her individual exhibitions or highlighting her participation in collective competitions, represent formal interpretations of the "feminine" condition of her art and the formal and conceptual transformations of the work produced during this period.

Critical texts and catalogues on several pieces of art by New York-based artist Luis Roldán, (b. Colombia1955) presented in a portfolio of 4 "segments" depicting his series composed of paintings, drawings, and collages (with paper, threads and textile cuts), constructed from waste and residues fragments found in his house and in the streets of Bogotá and New York and that represent his "intimate archaeological explorations" rescued to represent the vital space and identity of the brutal movement of contemporary society.

It can be said that a title defines the book. A "manual", according to two of the many definitions of the word from the dictionary of the Spanish language of the Royal Spanish Academy is "a book that summarizes the most substantial material of a topic" or "a book or notebook to make annotations". This book has more to do with the second definition in which the critical annotations of the author, throughout her experiences in museums and research, led her to write innovative texts for a better understanding of the art of the 19th century in Colombia.
