Esta libro muestra una seleccion de obras de alta calidad arquitectonica que tienen en comun dos caracterisiticas: todas ellas se encuentran ubicadas en un contexto urbano y manifiestan una actitud comun definida por los autores como una "modernaidad posracionalista." Las obras seleccionadas se agrupan en siete ciudades latinoamericanas: Santa Fe de Bogota, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Lima, Mexico D.F., Santiago de Chile y Sao Paulo.
