Rebels failed because of a lack of central control or unifying program. The book edited by researchers Thomas Calvo and Paulina Machuca - both members of the project "Proyecto Vencer la distancia" (Overcoming the distance) - comprises the participation of fourteen specialists in the discipline of social sciences.
